Jess Franco Films I haven't seen...

Any comments on this 1974 period sex comedy produced by Robert De Nesle?

Celestine, to me, feels like the myriad Italian sex comedies that were being made around the time. Very heavy on farce, especially in a particular bedroom scene with Romay. I cannot immediately think, however, of another Franco film where Romay beams with her smiles. She seems to be having a lot of fun with the role and brings an infectious amount of energy. I'm a huge Franco fan, also, Robert, and have been enjoying your blog immensely since following.

Thanks for the comments on the film and the positive feedback on the blog. Glad to hear you enjoy it.

This film sounds a lot like LES NONNES EN FOLIE/ LES CHATOUILLEUSES another 1974 farce set in the past, this time in 1915 Central America, the bandidos period. It's mildly amusing but a bit much and way overlong.

And I should mention the unreleased 1983 remake of CELESTINE.... SCARLET, which I'd really like to see.

CELESTINE is a fun, light film that is definitively recommended for Franco fanatics (an english-language version was released in the UK). As Hans wrote, Lina is clearly having fun in this one. I'd say it's one of Franco's best sex comedys (admittedly not one of my favorite genres). At least it's miles ahead of LES CHATOUILLEUSES etc.
